My impressions from "Good Omens 2"

I'm feeling quite calm now, so I'll calm down a bit more and write my impressions.

Actually, at first I was thinking that I didn't need to watch season 2.

Because Season 1 was so perfect, and it was so beautifully put together, I thought, "What more do I need?". That's one of the reasons (but not the only reason) why I got off to a slow start and completely missed the boat (sweat).

I watched it without much expectation and enjoyed it a lot, but in terms of the quality of the story, I don't think it's on the same level as the previous film. ......

But you know what? It's not far behind the previous season in terms of perfection, but it's also true that it's more disturbing than the last one! That is, of course, because of that last ten minutes.

As I mentioned in my previous article, this Season 2 is a bridge story to Season 3, and the main story will be depicted in the part of the show that falls in Season 3.

And what is depicted in this season 2 is love. A love story spanning 6,000 years between Crowley and Aziraphel. I think they spent six episodes on just that, probably just for the last scene. Well, it was certainly heartbreaking to see them break up like that after showing so much of their lovey-dovey cackling. ......

Personally, I interpret the relationship between Crowley and Aziraphel as not something that can be contained within the small framework of a romantic relationship, but something much bigger, a love that encompasses love, friendship and everything else, a love that is the best in the world for both of them. Well, that's why they used one full season because they tried to depict such a big love.

I guess Season 3 will show how Crowley and Aziraphel become "Us" after their break-up, along with the plan for the Second Coming of Christ.

Crowley consistently treats Aziraphel as an individual, not as an 'angel'. But Aziraphel is still trapped in that part of the world to which each of them belongs. He's stuck in the assumption that heaven = good and hell = evil. That's why, even though Crowley is the most decent and kindest of all, he has a hard time escaping the fact that he is a fallen demon. He probably knows this in his heart, but he can't escape the fact that Crowley is a fallen demon. He still can't accept Crowley as 'just Crowley'.

On the other hand, Aziraphel properly understands the problems in heaven, and he thinks that he has to do something about it. I think Aziraphel knows that if he stands up to God (even if he just asks a question), he will be depraved, so I think it actually took a lot of determination to invite Crowley to "change heaven with the two of us". But he thought the two of them could do it, that's how much he believed in them.

Changing the organisation to which you belong is a matter of considerable difficulty. As Crowley says, it is quicker to run away. But you can't get real happiness by running away (especially in this case). Because once you run away, you have to keep running away.

I think they can become 'Us' when Aziraphel grows up enough to think of Crowley as 'just Crowley', and when Crowley grows up enough to find a solution other than 'let's run away together'.

Incidentally, I personally didn't want them to kiss or have any other sexual contact, even if they had romantic feelings. Because I don't think their expressions of affection are the same as humans do. Because they are non-human beings. They look like two cute and cool middle-aged men, but they're not supposed to have reproductive organs or anything like that (as an aside, the great Alan Rickman opened his angelic genitals to us in a 1999 film called 'Dogma'. If you are interested, please watch it. It's a good film. (It's a film that was banned after protests, just like The Good Omens.)!

But well, I don't mind if there is a kiss in that form. ...... Is there such a sad kiss? That was a kind of the kiss of life, wasn't it? It's a kiss of farewell, a "if this doesn't work, it's really the end" kind of kiss.

Aziraphel almost said "I lo" right after the kiss, but swallowed. And then he said "I forgive you" with a slightly reconsidered expression on his face. Today I'm still wondering if Crowley would have gone to heaven with him if Aziraphel had said "I love you" at that moment. Or if Aziraphel had said that, would he have jumped into Crowley's chest?

But then they wouldn't be "Us". They shouldn't be in the mood like that.

Mr Gaiman has told us fans like us that even if Amazon doesn't renew the drama, it will be a novel or a radio drama of some sort, so it shouldn't be unfinished. But if it's a novel, there's no guarantee that a Japanese version will be released, so again, Amazon, please! Please update it!
