テーム・インパラの3枚目のアルバム、『Currents』に収録されている曲で、リアーナが自身のアルバム『Anti』でカバーしています。

内なる自分との対話の歌。恋をして失敗してきた理性的な自分と、情熱で突き進もうとする自分が喧嘩してますね。「心がふたつあるんだ」の部分はちいかわの「心がふたつあるー」から頂きました（笑）

This song is from Tame Impala's third album, Currents, and Rihanna also covered it on her album Anti.

It's a song about having a conversation with your inner self. The rational side, which has fallen in love and gotten hurt before, is arguing with the passionate side that just wants to throw caution to the wind and go for it.

For the "I've got two hearts!" bit, I borrowed that from Chiikawa's famous "I have two hearts!" line, lol.

ラジオでかかっててなんていい曲！　と思い訳することにしたんですが、歌詞を読むと単語のチョイスとかスラングの感じがヒップホップ文化への知識が浅いと火傷しそうな感じだったので、一旦やめとこうと思った曲です。でもなー、やっぱいい曲だしなーと思って、チャッピーに訳してもらうことにしました。

This song came on the radio, and my first thought was, "Wow, this is so good!" I immediately wanted to translate it.

めっちゃ英訳難しかった！　いや訳したのはチャッピーなんだけど！　チャッピーが訳せるように自然な日本語に意味を嚙み砕くのが結構大変だった！

初めて聞いたT.M.Revolutionの曲で、私にとっては思い出深い曲です。イントロから何から全部好きだけども歌詞に関しては深く考えたことがなく。タイトルの「Heart of sword」も「るろうに剣心の曲だからSwordなのかな」くらいに思ってたら全然普通に「鋼の心」みたいな内容の歌でした。

 

After watching THE FIRST TAKE, I decided to translate this song.

It was incredibly difficult to translate into English! Well... technically, Chatty did the translating. 😆

The hard part was breaking the lyrics down into natural Japanese first so Chatty could actually translate them properly.

This was the very first T.M.Revolution song I ever heard, so it has a special place in my heart. I love everything about it—from the opening riff onward—but I'd never really stopped to think about the lyrics.

Even the title, "HEART OF SWORD," I always assumed it was simply called that because it was used for Rurouni Kenshin. It turns out I was completely wrong. The title actually reflects the song itself—it's about having a heart as strong and unyielding as a sword.
